City of Las Vegas – Request for Qualifications: Muralists

City of Las Vegas, Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs - Public Art Program

The City of Las Vegas Public Art Program believes that public art creates engaging public spaces that unite people and build a sense of community. The City’s Public Art Program invites artists to submit their qualifications to enrich the community with painted murals.

The City of Las Vegas currently has several identified mural projects. This request for qualifications intends to create a list of pre-qualified muralists. Artists chosen for this pre-qualified list are eligible for consideration for upcoming City of Las Vegas mural projects throughout the city for a period of three years. Through a fair and public process, an evaluation panel consisting of local artists, Las Vegas Arts Commissioners, and community stakeholders will review all submissions.

Project budgets are yet to be determined. Muralists may receive amounts ranging between $20 – $40 per square foot depending on the complexity of design and size, all-inclusive.

All artists, eighteen years of age or older, excluding current City of Las Vegas employees. The Public Art Program encourages diversity in its collection and programming. Artists whose work is well represented in the City’s art collection are eligible to apply, but the artist selection panel will consider artistic diversity as one factor in the selection process.

Artists are asked to submit the following documents and supporting materials electronically:

-Letter of Interest: Tell us who you are, and share a brief overview of your interest in creating murals. Let us know of any community engagement that you incorporate into your art practice.

-Resume or Curriculum Vitae: Detail your relevant professional experience in the art field.

-Images and Descriptions of Artworks: Provide up to ten (10) images of past mural projects, and/or relevant works. Include a description for each image.
