Jan. 20, 2015
When people from all walks of life fill the halls of the Nevada Legislative Building in the 2015 session, the creations of Nevada contemporary artists will surround and invite them. The Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series spotlights the Silver State’s breadth of talent with six exhibits through June, each featuring different artists working in painting, basketry and mixed media.

The 2015 LXS Series will feature “Pine Spirit,” baskets by Sande Rowan of Carson City, Feb. 2-20; “Natural Memorial Realist,” paintings by Max Bunnell of Overton, Feb. 23-March 13; “Building Materials II,” by Anthony Arevalo of Reno, March 16-April; and “The Observation and Conclusion,” paintings by Joseph Watson of Henderson, April 6-24. “White Pine County Artistry,” paintings by Dawn Dot Star of Ely, appears April 27-May 15 and “Forevermore,” mixed media by Su Limbert of Las Vegas, follows May 18-June 5.

Managed by the NAC’s artist services program, the LXS Gallery space is on the first floor across from the Caucus Deli at 401 S. Carson St., Carson City. LXS is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

LXS has been exhibiting Nevada work since 1985. Artists for the 2015 series were recommended by a committee that included Nate Clark, visual artist and public art assistant, City of Reno; Bobbie Ann Howell, visual artist and program coordinator, Nevada Humanities; and Jennifer Messina, ceramic artist and member of Ely Art Bank.
